Use of Technology / Device Agreement
Students at Livingston Public Schools are provided with district-supplied devices for learning. This agreement outlines device care, responsible use, and digital citizenship expectations.
- Technology use is a privilege, not a right.
- All devices and network use may be monitored.
- Violations may result in disciplinary actions or legal consequences.
Acceptable Use Policy (AUP):
All students and guardians must review the Acceptable Use Policy 3612p before accessing the internet. You accept the policy in registration when you read through this page and sign in online registration
Device Access at Livingston Public Schools
Grades K-2: 1-to-1 iPads for classroom use and home access when needed. iPads assigned per student, kept in class (home use if needed).
Grades 3-5: 1-to-1 Chromebooks for remote and in-school learning. Chromebooks assigned per student, kept in class (home use for projects).
Grades 6-8: Take-home Chromebooks issued to all students.
Grades 9-12:Students may bring their own device or check one out from the school.
Shared Devices: Laptops and desktops available in labs, libraries, and classrooms.
All devices must be returned at the end of the school year.
Device Responsibilities
Do:
✅ Keep your device secure and in good condition.
✅ Report any issues to a teacher immediately.
✅ Do not remove school labels or alter device appearance (no stickers).
✅ Keep devices clean – no food or drinks nearby!
✅ Charge devices fully before school each day.
Do not:
❌ Lend or borrow devices or chargers.
❌ Tamper with another student’s device.
❌ Install unauthorized apps or software.
Data & Privacy:
Students have no expectation of privacy for data stored on school devices or networks. All use must align with school policies.
Tech Support & Internet Safety
Loaner Devices: If a student’s device is inoperable, limited loaners are available.
Web Filtering: Internet access is filtered in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
Attempts to bypass filters may result in disciplinary action.
Behavior & Discipline for Technology Use
Violations include:
- Off-task behavior (messaging, gaming, browsing)
- Plagiarism or cyberbullying
- Viewing inappropriate content
- Damaging devices or using another student's account
- Attempting to bypass filters
Consequences range from warnings to loss of device privileges and further disciplinary action.
Charging & Storage
- Students assigned take-home devices must bring them charged daily.
- Storage is available at school, but students remain responsible for their devices.
