Coping Skills for Students

Hey there!

I miss seeing your smiling faces at school. I know it may be hard to not be able to see your friends and teachers at school. It is hard for us too. Hang in there. We are all in the same boat, and it is difficult for adults too. Remember, when you have uncomfortable feelings- it is important to use a coping skill to help you feel better. Try some of the examples below. This time will not last forever, take it one day at a time, and I will see you soon! I'm here for you.

-Ms. Harrington

I have had a lot of students wondering how to make a calming bottle. Mr. Karls (East Side School Counselor) and I took some time to show students how to create one if time and materials are at home. Students can shake the bottles to release energy or frustration and then watch the glitter/contents fall to refocus and help to calm down. Taking deep breaths while watching the glitter or contents fall is helpful as well.

Coping Skills are important!

Take a look at some Go Noodle Videos. These are another great way to use your coping skills. I like the rainbow breath the most!
