Meet the Livingston Public Schools New Superintendent 


Livingston Public Schools is pleased to announce, after a month in his position, Eldon "Chad” Johnson is ready to start the 2023-2024 school year on a high note.  Previous  

Superintendent Lynne Scalia vacated the position on June 30th with Superintendent  

Johnson transitioning into her place by July 1st 


Mr. Johnson comes to Livingston from Hardin, Montana as their superintendent for the last five years. Born in Billings, Johnson moved to the Ruby Valley in southwest Montana as a youngster eventually ending up in Twin Bridges as a teenager where he graduated high school, worked as a Principal and Superintendent for nine years, and still has one child attending that very same school. 


With a bachelors in secondary education (Broadfield Science) and a master’s in educational leadership, both from Montana State University and earned exactly ten years apart, Superintendent Johnson understands the importance of education leadership at all levelsTeaching for Melstone and Stanford Public Schools and leading as a superintendent and K-12 principal at Melstone, Fromberg, and Twin Bridges, Mr. Johnson has incredible experience in the tight communities that Class C providesHis five-year tenure as superintendent of Hardin School Districts 17H &1 recently ended due to his move to Livingston as he hoped to be closer to his kids. 


Superintendent Johnson’s six children keep him very busy as does his love of floating, hunting, live music, athletics, and the BobcatsWhat drives him in education, you might wonder“My original passion was to work with kids and coach...of course over time, that vision, personal goals, and life change pushed me into the educational leadership role where I continue to work for the benefit of students.”
